BUSHI KNIVES

Wield the Soul of the Samurai

かつて武士が刀に求めたのは、強靭さと美しさ、そして使い手の魂に応える一体感でした。その精神は数百年を経た今、日本の鍛治職人の手によって一本の包丁に受け継がれています。

What the samurai once sought in a sword was strength, beauty, and a sense of unity that resonated with the user's soul. Centuries later, this very spirit is inherited in each knife, handcrafted by Japanese master blacksmiths.

Kenji Togashi

Kenji Togashi

A celebrated traditional craftsman of Sakai and recipient of the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Silver Rays. Born into a family of ironworks, he entered the world of blacksmithing by destiny, remarkably mastering his craft in just four and a half years—a feat that typically requires a decade.

As the master behind the "Honyaki" series, the pinnacle of the Sakai Takayuki brand, he expertly manipulates high-grade steels such as Shirogami #1 and Aogami #1, which are notoriously difficult to forge. From Yanagiba to Bone-cutting and Soba-cutting knives, his precise handiwork instills unparalleled sharpness and dignity into every blade. Recognized as one of Osaka’s "Distinguished Craftsmen (Naniwa no Meiko)," his work represents the zenith of modern Japanese blacksmithing.

Itsuo Doi

Itsuo Doi

A master blacksmith who studied under his father, the legendary Keijiro Doi, inheriting the secret forging techniques passed down exclusively within the Doi family. Living by the conviction that "the more steel is forged, the stronger it becomes," he pours his soul into every blade, facing the forge with unwavering dedication.

He is the master behind the highly acclaimed Aogami #2 (Blue Steel No. 2) series within the "Sakai Takayuki" brand. Through his exhaustive hammering process, he draws out the steel’s ultimate tenacity and toughness, resulting in an edge with extraordinary retention. Carrying the bloodline of a legend and refusing any compromise, the blades he creates are true masterpieces, worthy of being a lifelong companion.

Dedicated to passing his craft to the next generation, he continues to work daily alongside his sons in the sharpening workshop, pouring his heart and soul into the preservation of tradition.
